Application area of the device is a wide range of radiographic examinations such as diagnostics of diseases of chest organs, skull, skeletal system (including spine), diagnostics in pediatrics and obstetrics, etc. The most effective application of this device is the prophylactic examinations of chest organs (tuberculosis! cancer!) where operative diagnostics, convenient archiving and low doses are required.

Operation principle of the device is based on the scanning of a patient (in vertical direction) by a narrow fan-shape X-ray beam. Upon the end of scanning an image is immediately shown on the screen.

The image obtained has high contrast sensitivity that is provided by the absence of the scattered radiation (in a patient body) and a patient body displacement during the exposition, and also the distortion induced by the detector noise.

There are two types of devices:
a) With radiation protection cabin. Can be installed in room without special protection
b) Open type without cabin. Requires room with radiation protection but allows doctor easier access to patient.

Main features of the device:
01. Application of a narrow slit collimator at the detector entry practically eliminates the «fog» at the image caused by the registration of radiation scattered by patient's body.
02. Large distance «X-ray tube - detector» and applied scanning method provide minimal distortions in horizontal direction and absence of distortions in vertical direction, i.e. along the body.
03. The absence of scattered radiation registration, high quantum efficiency of the detector and low noise of the detector electronics provide the high contrast sensitivity at the extremely low doses.
04. Applied variant of scanning in a combination with a very short exposure time of image fragment (2.5 ms/line) provides the equally good quality and sharpness through the whole image field, including heart and pericardial region (without dynamic blur caused by heart beatings).
05. Large scanning field in vertical direction (1200 mm) allows to avoid inconvenient vertical shifts of patient in most cases.

The properties listed above and positive estimates of radiologists using LDRD «Siberia» allow to conclude that this system is optimal for making mass prophylactic radiographic examinations of ALL population categories.
